Warren County Winterfest is the largest winter event in the Pennsylvania Wilds region. Held at Chapman State Park in late January of each year, our event features a variety of Winter outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy.

On Friday, Winterfest kicks off with the Mid-Distance Race, part of the Jim Lobdell Memorial Sled Dog Races. Contestants race from the beach on Chapman State Park to Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch and back, a total of 32 miles. On Friday afternoon the “Meet the Musher” supper is held at the Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club.

On Saturday morning, Chapman State Park begins a long slate of family-fun events, starting with Lobdell sprint races, ice fishing, sled riding, skiing. There will be  a whole host of events, vendors and refreshments under the Big Tent. The Canine Weight Pull starts at 10:00 AM. National-champion weight pulling dogs compete between Pavilion #1 and Pavilion #2.

The Polar Bear Plunge is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. Plungers register prior to the event, each donating to benefit the Salvation Army’s Warren citadel.

Sled Dog Racing and other family winter activities continue on Sunday.

If you have questions on the events or you want to find a place to stay overnight, please call either the Warren County Visitors Bureau or the Chapman State Park office.
